Trans slip in 1st gear...
#1
Guys,
Today my transmission was acting kind of funny. To set the stage the only mods are a magnaflow catback and a MIT intake tube (paper filter). I am running the stock tune and my truck has 13,000 miles. I don't beat on the truck that often and there are only 8 runs down the 1/4 mile.
Anyway, I was almost to work (10 miles on back roads) when I got stuck at a red light for a few minutes. Then, when I went to accelerate from the light it seemed like my transmission was slipping for a few seconds (until ~15 mph) and then grabbed. It has acted normal ever since.
I remember reading about this same thing on a few boards awhile ago and it seem that a lot of people had the same problem, every once and a while the trans would slip like that. Has this happened to any of you and what did you do about it (if anything at all)?
Jeff

My trans is acting the same way with ZERO mods on my truck, I'm looking for info as well. ttt Anyone else?
Mine does it in other gears sometimes too, like going from a cruise to a light-moderate acceleration.

Yeah, this has happened a number of times on my '00 Sierra. My recollection of the discussions on this seem to indicate 1 of 2 conditions. First, it's possible that the valve-body needs to be repaired or replaced due to excessive wear or possibly it's just that the transmission didn't or couldn't shift down properly to 1st when you stop. If you aren't abusive in your driving habits, it's probably the second issue. I think there may even be a service bulletin and a software update to fix it.
Anyway, that's what I seem to remember.

Mt truck did the same thing when it was stock. I think it was trying to take off in 2nd and then it woukd switch to 1st. It only happened every once in a while. I think it quit doing that after I got the trans tuned.
