Trans life.

Newbe here. Just bought a 01 gmc 1500. 5.3 4x4. Its got 98000 miles and I know that the trans is a ticking time bomb. Shifts fine but what can I do to extend the life of it. Any info would be great. Thanks.

off the top of my head, i'd say a corvetter servo, 4th gear servo, shift kit, and a bigger aux cooler. Also, switching over to Dex VI isn't a bad idea. And if you really want to burn some $$ look into an aluminum deep pan.

Definitely a larger auxillary cooler. That's a small purchase I'll be making soon.
Servos & shift kit will firm the shifts nicely. That's a plus. If you wanna go a step further, you'll need to look at replacing a few internal components... stock 3-4 clutch pack, forward sprag, ...just to name a couple (longer list that'll be sure to sway you toward the cost of a performance build
).
