Default Looking to supe up my truck

Hello, I am looking to boost my truck a little. It is a 07 1500 with a 4.8. I am thinking of buying LS376/525 gm motor. Could I use my stock trains or should I get the connect and cruise and use that trans. For 525 hp, I'm assuming I'm going to need to beef up the rear. Should I do the control arms while at it? Thanks.

The LS376/525 crate engine comes with the GM ASA cam. Buy the regular LS3 crate engine and pick a better aftermarket cam.

What's the difference between that and a regular ls3? Every other ls3 I find has less hp. What is wrong with the ASA cam and could I just buy an aftermarket cam for it? Thanks

The only difference is the cam. You are paying a higher price for just the ASA cam, a cam meant for a 17 year old spec LS1 engine with cathedral port heads meant for short track racing. Cam lobe tech has come a long way in the last 17 years with much better designs available now especially for square port LS3 heads. Spend less money on the base LS3 crate engine and put a better aftermarket cam and springs in it if you are wanting more power than the stock LS3 has.

What would be the best cam to get? Also, would I need to do anything to the rear? Planning on regearing since it has 3.23 gears in it. Thanks.

Since it's a nnbs, would a ls3 fit with my stock harness? Shoud I get the ECM that summit offers? http://www.summitracing.com/parts/nal-19259261
