Smile Torque converter options??

I ordered my FLT 4L65E this week, and I'm looking at converter options.
(Truck and mods are in sig, cam is 207/220 .571/.578 118.5 LSA)

I bought a PI Vig a long time ago used. It is a 9.5" single disc with a 3200 stall. I paid $400 for the converter and it will be $225 to restall.

I could sell it and get a Trailblazer stall . It looks like a TB stall would be around $350 or so.(???)

If I sell the Vig and get the TB, I would come out about even financially. After dropping the money for the tranny unexpectedly, I don't want to go overboard on the converter. The truck is (supposed to be) my daily driver, and maybe sees 200 miles of light towing a year.

TIA

I would go 2800. You may not get much brake spool with it at 2400. The TB converter does work well in a turbo'd truck. A friend used it for a bit that way with great success.

I'd keep it and see how it acts... I'm going to run my 3600 converter with my front mount and adjust from there. Ill probably end up with a 3000 or 3200 by the time its all said and done.

I can get about 1 pound of boost with the stock converter (1650-1700 RPM) BEFORE the cam.

I'm going to wrap the rest of the exhaust and try to fix some charge piping that will hopefully help it spool.

I never even got a chance to run it hard after putting in the cam.

Thumbs up

I think I've decided to keep the Vig and restall it 24-2600.

Has anyone used ARP bolts for the converter? What size would I need?

Thanks for the help

I would think the Vigilante is going to be quite a bit stronger in the TC clutch area. Besides that its a 9.5 inch vs the TB 12 inch which will cut down on rotating mass quite a bit. I'd use the Vigilante.
