it's internally, . . . . you really need to read the instructions. I'm not one for reading up on a sheet of paper with a box of springs, but you really need to read these over carefully.

 

The spacers go into the accumulator piston, which is accessed from the side of the tranny. I believe that the spacers firm up the 2-3 shift.There are some holes that need to be drilled in the separator plate (under the valve body inside of tranny) that also go a long way toward firming up the shifts, especially the 1-2 shift..

 

I am not a transmission expert but I think the piece on the side is the servo not the accumulator. The accumulator is inside the transmission pan next to the valve body. You should have good pictures of the items and parts included in your instructions.

I had it wrong. The spacer goes into the accumulator (in Tootall's picture) which is inside the oil pan. Stiffer springs in the kit go in the servo which is on the passenger side of the tranny.
