Default Rear end upgrades

Well I have been wanting a trutrac and gears for a while now since the valuetrac is no longer availible except on eBay. However, on Ron's site I found this guy
GM 8.5 RMS Powergrip Posi Differential 30 Spline 8.6 - Ron's Machining Service
Never heard of rms and was wondering what people thought of that option. I like the price. It seems pretty nice. What say ye?

I currently have 3.42s so I will be swapping to 3.90s or 4.10s, but I am trying to find an economical alternative to the trutrac if there is one. I know it's the proven option, but hoping someone might have feedback on another option such as the link I posted.

Isn't RMS the house brand? Ron's Machining Service = RMS I always assumed.

well I will be damned, I am sure your right on this one. I might just save for a truetrac to be honest tho.... I am a little concerned about a rear with clutches etc. I just wonder what kind of abuse this budget model can take. I wish the old valuetrac would have lasted.

Looks like it is a copy of the Eaton Posi like Yukon copied it with the duragrip. I would be willing to bet it uses all Yukon parts so it would be equivalent to the duragrip. I have been happy with my eaton posi so as long as yukon/rms uses quality clutches, the design is solid.

Would a TrueTrac be any better over the factory locker? According to my RPO codes, I have a "HD Rear Locking Differential" (RPO code G80).

In a few weeks I am going to have a 4.11 or 4.56 put in (just not sure which yet).

Yes the g80 is known as the grenade 80 for a reason. It's a time bomb some get lucky and hold over 500hp others blowup with stock power.

Cool. I figure if Ron is gonna put his name on it then it must be pretty good. He has an incredible reputation.
