Default Possible transmission issue?

Ok guys. Wife's 2002 Trailblazer 4.2L 4x4. there is 96k on the clock and I'm getting ready to do 100k tune-up (replace coolant, diff fluids, t-case fluid, tranny filter and fluid, plugs, and front O2 sensors).

Recently been having a couple little issues. First off got a SES light that Bank 1, Sensor 1 circuit malfunction on the O2. Not a problem as I was going to replace those anyway.

The main issue that is concerning me is that when she starts out first thing in the morning (~65F for reference), she makes it sound like the tranny slips sometimes. I haven't actually has this happen to me yet, so unfortunately I can't comment on it. Here was her most recent explanation, she was going 30 and stepped on the gas to accelerate. The engine revved to 3k without accelerating, and then the tranny engaged (hard engagement) and accelerated. She says after it's warmed up it really won't happen. It will only happen in the beginning of the day. My last tranny fluid and filter change was around 55-60k.

Ideas?

Thanks,
Andrew

It may be a problem that I've seen on many trailbazers,it has an electric over hydrolic clutch fan that fails and makes the engine "sound" like its reving when its actually not capable of freewheeling cold.I've seen a code for this and other times no code and still be bad.I think its a "fan overspeed" code.Good luck.

She actually sees the tach rev up when this happens. Still what you are thinking about?

Have you checked your fluid level? You might also have a solenoid that is a little sticky when cold.

on the trailblazers and women explaining what the problem is, be careful you aren't troubleshooting the wrong thing. Same description for my wife's '02 trailblazer, exact same, and it turned out to be the fan. they are electronically controlled, but mechanically driven. They start to go bad and engage when they shouldn't and it feels like the motor is screaming but it isn't, just the fan. Plus the extra load makes the vehicle quiet sluggish. I know sounds crazy, f-ing things aren't cheap either. GM has upgraded that fan like 5 times.

maybe it is trans issues, maybe not, just wanted to throw that one out there. nevertheless

Ok, I just gotta get around to getting a test drive in and have her drive it to see what actually happens.
