Good read, but it doesn't say what can cause a pop pop pop noise. Lol. That's all I was wondering is what would cause that. Very good read though. Mine does chirp and squeal in tight turns I the parking lot. But not much other than that. Usually only at full lock or close too.

ok so i had to go home for emergency leave from deployment. while i was there i drove my tahoe around and found it was poping really bad but now less than half throttle will do it. also you can feel it in the floor board it seems. is this still just the case going bad?

i took it out into some sand and mud with my bald *** tires and it drove around just fine. climb up onto a sand/dirt hill no spinning or anything. i could get it to spin some if i wanted too. but if you stuck it half throttle in the mud it would bang. its a slower not as often bang now.

Does this noise only happen on turns? Also this is an AWD application correct?

I see in your earlier photo's you had the transfer case apart and did not find anything. I'm curious if you might be having an issue with either your front or rear deferential. Just a thought.

i rebuilt the front end almost two years ago now. for me thats maybe 20,000 miles if that. then the rear end i rebuilt a few times but the last time was actually about the same time i did the front end. i got tired of breaking axles so i rebuilt the front end after i had to redo the rear and threw the AWD case back into the truck. the front is the factory AWD axle that came in it i just put new parts in it. my tahoe was a factory AWD unit. no actuator on the front diff.

also what color is the viscous fluid in the coupler? i put in red trans fluid and it always seems to come back out a black mess.
