Default opinions please!!

OK I took my level 7 flt trans to get new clutches at a local shop. This guy is trying to tell me it has the wrong valve body on it and I need to get a stock valve body and a shift kit put in along with the clutches. I know he is full of **** bit I would like your opinions as well. Take it and let someone else do it, or let him finish it?

Ask him what the problem is with said clutches? Is it wrong because of a brand or what ?

Well the clutches are burnt for sure. When I dropped the trans I had clutch material everywhere. But what he's saying is the valve body is wrong and that's why it burnt up.. I've had the transmission for over a year with no problems. I don't really known what the he'll he is thinking. Imbgoing to go talk to him tomorrow.

Not sure what he is talking about having the wrong vb. I have been to numerous ATSG and ATRA seminars and never have they published any info about this issue. Any vb from 96 and up will work in all vehicles up to 2008. There were some changes in 09 with removing the 3-2 solenoid, external prndl switch moved to the inside of the trans, separator plate changed, removing valves in the valve body and also some changes to the shift linkage assembly. There are two different EPC solenoids in those years (96-08) however they are completely interchangeable when swamping the internal wiring harness. Both of which use the same values and will not have an effect on the 3-4 clutch. I would look for another builder or just have him put a clutch pack in it and clean up the vb. HTH Vince

Im not sure how many performance transmissions the local shop has built or how many performance units he has actually examined before your unit however i have to believe that if you had the wrong valve body your transmission would not have lasted over a year. Cluthces are perishable parts if thats all that is wrong with you rtransmission i would have to say that FLT did a great for you.
