NEW TRANNY, Converter broken???
#1
So i just put in a new 60E, with a good re-build kit, HD2, Beast, all the good stuff, and i also got a Yank tt2600 converter. i finally got 300 miles on it taking it easy, and i swaped in my tuned PCM. so i went out driving it around and everything is great. when tow-haul is on, torq management is gone and it shifts awsome. But when i did a run from dead stop to about 110, a loud grinding noise happened when i let off the gas. it only happens when i am in 3rd gear (85 mph & + ) and full throttle then let off the gas.. when i let off the gas the RPM drops down to about 600 and it makes a very loud grinding noise, ALSO i have no gears at all then. even if i put it in neutral the noise is still there, meaning it cant be my tranny, ( i think) This makes me think its my converter. Once i come to a complete stop, everything is fine. and it acts like nothing is wrong at all. Does anyone know what this might be????

Im gonna say converter. After I had my FLT level 5 installed with a new Yank TT3000, three months later I was having lockup issues and throwing TCC failure codes. Just 3 weeks ago it wouldnt lock up at all and the RPMs would just drop to idle from high speeds and rev freely so I drove it in. Well lets just say the converter is fried and sent metal shavings through my tranny (found clutch material and alluminum shavings in the filter)
. Not really sure as to what caused the TC to fail but Chuck from FLT is working with me and recommended sending the tranny to FLT to have them open it up and inspect the tranny for damage and foreign material due to the TC. If I were you, I would not drive it any more and have it looked at right away because it will only get worse. Even if it is the TC, more than likely damage has been done to the tranny. Do yourself a huge favor and give Chuck at FLT a call, they are very helpful and customer support is top notch. They are listed in the sponsor section to the right.------------>
