Finally got all the sub assemblies taken apart, and cleaned. Took freaking two days but damn everything is squeaky clean. Rebuild kit should be here Friday so this weekend I'll get a good start on rebuilding it. Need to order some goodies from Jake too

Why am I not seeing anyone else installing this center support snap ring around the spring assembly? Do I have it installed wrong or so the 97-up 4L80es not use it??

Been looking through threads and videos and I just see people installing the spring Assembly without the ring around it.

Good pics guys. The ASTG manual shows the ring that I have in their pics but it doesn't show how it is installed. I assembled the center support without the ring like you guys have pictured. I can't find any images or videos of how it should be installed... Think it will bite me in the *** later down the road?

I will have to give a few shops around town a call about it.

Another question I have is with the fourth clutch housing and piston. The manual doesn't give a direction for the lip seals. Right now I have the housing seal pointed up, and the piston seal pointed down. Is this correct?
