Default John Deere Hygaurd trans oil..... Calling James B.

I've ran across a few other forums were A LOT of people are running Hydraulic oil in the transmissions.... I can get Hygaurd at a good price, but someone, some where said James B. had some bad luck with it.... Anyone else ran across any info???

Hmm I wasnt aware that people are running Hygard in some of their transmissions.

If this works good I can get this at an excellent price seeing how I have worked for John Deere for about 12 years.

Well it makes sense. A John Deere power shift is just a big clutch to clutch auto transmission minus the auto. Its made to run for run for years at temperatures near boiling and it seems to hold up. The only thing is the viscosity is a little thicker then Dex 3 or Dex 6 though.

Wouldnt that mean higher pressures?

IIRC the low viscosity is for the hydrostats in combines. I could be wrong though. Maybe there is a low viscosity blend for the northern folks.

The low vis is used in anything with a hydrostatic transmission. On the tractors, it also gets used in the hydraulic cylinders. Its really good stuff for their applications.

Water makes it congeal though... Shouldn't be a big problem in a truck.
