Where can that kit be found?

SSBC and Baer both make oversize rotor kits for our trucks. I actually have both, SSBC all the way around on my lifted Sierra and the baer kit on the front of my Silverado.

we have the same issues down south.....although not as bad. I had to pull a hub to get a rotor un-stuck last week. Luckily the hub was bad

People who have done this, but not done the front upgrade, do you guys think your rears have to much bite now?

I literally *just* put new wagner pads and rotors on the front, and didn't really see the upgrade thread till i was in the middle of doing it. I already had the pads anyway, so all i had to buy was the rotors, but i wish now i would have upgraded the front.

Anyway, Im worried about having the upgraded rears and not fronts. People who haven't upgraded the fronts, talking of rears locking up when you slam the brakes kinda makes me nervous. I wonder if it is really a good idea to just put this upgrade on and not the fronts, locking up the rear isn't safe/could actually make you stop slower in a panic brake.

Im replacing at least one caliper/pad/rotor tommorow anyway, might do them all, but even if i do im wondering how good this works or if anyone regrets it....I know it will have better feel/grab 90% of the time, but i wouldn't want to lock up my rears at the wrong time.

I wouldn't worry about it too much. Just do some panic stops when you get it together to see how it acts. Worst case scenario, you install an adjustable proportioning valve or a residual pressure valve.

It doesn't seem like the upgrade is severe enough to have those kinds of issues, but I'm just taking an educated guess and not speaking from personal experience.

Has anyone else looked into this? I did some part number cross referencing and it seems the caliper is the same from 99-08 and only the bracket changed to accommodate the larger rotor on the 05+. If that is infact the case, you can get the caliper brackets for the 05+ from RockAuto for $14/ea and reuse the existing front calipers with new rotors for an 05+ application. It is time for brakes on my 01 Tahoe so I am looking heavily into doing this with braided lines, EBC rotors and green stuff pads.

looks like the calipers are in fact the same according to the part numbers. Go ahead and buy the brackets and rotors!

If I wasn't the first to do this swap I was one of the early ones. I did this swap on my 1500 back in 2006. I've had minor trouble but nothing serious. However, I believe that a proportioning valve is needed. I've gone through rear brake pads a lot quicker than with the single piston calipers. My braking is good but I think that with the right proportioning it could be better. I've been trying to get an SUV with the dual piston rear calipers so I can look and see if there is a proportioning valve below the master cylinder or if it's built into the hydraulic ABS box.
