Question How will my stocker 4l60e hold up??????

Ok i'm planning on dropping in a LQ4 6.0 to replace the 4.3. My question is how well will my stock tranny hold up. It is the 4l60e. I know it'll most likely live a short life with heavy mods, but i'm figuring to probably just start off with shorty headers, air intake, mild cam, tbi spacer, E fans... etc. Basically bolt ons. Any suggestions to strengthen the tranny for the install or am i pretty much lookin at fryin a tranny stayin stock???????
Torque converter (T.C) will most def. be upgraded, its required... Any suggestions on specific size T.C.?

It all depends how you drive. I drive very sanely, don't do burnouts, don't floor it too often, etc and my stock 150k 60e is still shifting perfectly. If you abuse it, it will die quickly.

my stock 60e lasted 142K until it went, if it was me, i'd get it built while you are doing the swap and be done with it

Knowin me my foot will be pretty heavy...lol I am wantin a hot rod truck but it will also be a daily driver, at least for a while, so i don't wanna be stranded cuz i went cheap and left a weak spot in the build.. My 60e is already at 173k so maybe a built one should be in the plans....

454navyss---- what kind of tranny did you raplace yours with?

especially if you already got 173k on it i would swap it out. it sounds as if you want to do more to it eventually, why not put a 4L80 in it and not worry about it anymore?

I started modding mine around 165k miles. It went out at 192k miles. All I had was a corvette servo and line pressure added. It took out the 3-4 clutch pack but otherwise is fine. I put a 4L80E in it and haven't looked back. I've still got my 99 Z71 to remind me just how pathetic a 4L60E really is and its even got a shift kit in it.

My stock 60E recently went out at 59,6xx behind my mild 5.3, with 100% torque management removed...I do drive it kinda hard at times but have maintained it well. I was driving very easily at the time when it went btw.
