Help!!Stock locker struck!!
#1
Has anybody had problems with there stock locker. Just today while i was out runnin around I noticed when turning at slow speeds the locker was stuck. Rear of the truck hopping. Man the truck is an 01 ext. cab 4x4 silverado. It only has 30,000 miles but the warranty is up do to time. I drove it around tonight to see if any thing has changed by chance. Nope! feels like it will unlock sometimes but mostly stays locked. I can coast into a parking lot and turn sharp and half way through the turn it locks up and starts hoping. There rearend is all stock with 373s. Never had any problems. Help please!
thanks guys.

Sounds like the G80 limited slip is acting up and on the way out .My suggestion is to replace it with a Auburn or Eaton[non G80]limited slip.If cash is a problem servicing the G80 with new synthetic gear lube may buy you some time.

I had a similar problem with mine in parking lots during tight turns Id heard one rear wheel skidding. It would never seem to lock properly under acceleration also I got my mechanic to replace it under warranty he said the clutches were burned bad but thats it. I have noticed better traction with the new one. See if you can get it changed under warranty. If you cant I would at least try changing the fluid that would probably help until you can get a new one, if you have to buy one I would definately looking into a better posi

Got her fixed today! Dealer went ahead and warranted it! The locker looked fine just looking at it. but once out of the rearend One of the spider gears was welded ot the shaft it rode on. They said it was the first time they have ever seen that. Usually they found pieces in the differential case before. They just about didnt take it out cause it looked ok..... i was like WHAT. DRIVE IT!!! but all is good till this one takes a dive in another 30k miles!
