How did the truck shift before the issue? was it bang shifts? or did it hit hard going into gear from nuetral...I know this has caused issues in the past where to much Park/Nuetral pressure into gear has blown out snaprings on these transmissions
The truck had no issues going from neutral to drive or from park to drive that was always smooth. When you hit 2nd gear at more than 30-40% throttle it would chirp the tires going into 2nd gear. I had about 20k miles on the trans and most of that was pretty light use since I had either cracked a piston or ring land and it has been pushing boost into the crankcase for years. I used my company car for soo long I just never had the time or money to fix the truck, plus getting divorced and being broke for several years did not help.
Thinking about bailing on the whole modding the truck thing once and for all.
this thing has cost me way too much money over the years. Maybe I should have divorced my truck along with the ex wife??

I checked the fluid for the hell of it, its full and does not smell of burnt clutch at all.
I am starting to think something is locked up but I don't know enough about an automatic transmission to even guess. Could the converter have went out? Would that even effect it at all?
even if the converter went out it should still roll....does it only not roll backwards? Can you pull the driveshaft to make sure nothing funny is going on with the brakes or rearend?

I'm going to say that the clutches in the input drum are all welded up. This would cause a tie up in reverse.

I'll be pulling the rear drive shaft possibly tonight. I have to so I can at least roll it around. I don't think it the rear brakes as I have never had an issue with them since new but you never know I guess.

Vince beat me to it. the forward clutches in the bottom of the input drum i bet are the culprit here.

No updates other than taking the drive shaft out. Truck rolls now so its not the drive shaft or the rear end.
I have no desire to lay under my truck when its 25 degrees out so its gonna be a long time until I get this all sorted out.
When I do tear it out and apart I will definitely post pics and finding.
I just bought a new car a week ago that gets 30+ mpg so the truck will be sitting either way.

Off or on, in neutral.
