Yes and no, started working at a trans shop about 17 years ago, built a th350 for my 80 z28, left the trans shop to go to automotive school, started at a dealership doing nothing but internal engine and transmission work... So in a way yes i have taught myself to build one, but at same time i have been trained to do so.... The stock rebuilds are a breeze i have gotten to point i can basically reassemble a 6l80 at this point in about 2.5-3 hours, including the valve body.... And can rebuilt a 4l60 in about 5 hours...4l80 about the same but i am abit more geared to the 6l80/90 at this point...
