Default Engine stalling? Popping?

So I noticed a popping noise recently when I accelerate, I thought it was just back pressure but now I see that when I slam on the gas pedal the engine stalls and won't advance. It just throws the rpms up. I've checked the lines and it doesn't seem like it's leaking, I'm thinking it could be the fuel filter. Anything will help guys. Thanks.

You use some odd, made-up terms.

This I understand. Yes, a very lean condition can cause backfiring. So can other things, like a broken valve spring.

to me, stalls means quits running.

These two terms combined make it sound like the engine rpm reaches a certain point and won't increase any more.

But then you say this, which makes no sense at all. "Throws the rpm(s) up". ¿ ?

I have used a fuel pressure gauge with a long hose and duct taped to the outside of my windshield to observe fuel pressure while driving.
Please translate "stalls", "won't advance", and "throws the rpm up".

The rpms jumping up and not going anywhere sounds like a transmission problem, at leastbthe way youve described it, which in that instance would kinda rule out the fuel pump or filter. what kind of popping are you hearing?? Is it a backfire pop or a more of a metallic knocking???

It only happens when I floor the gas pedal down, when I'm cruising the transmission shifts fine. I checked hoses and fuel lines to see if they were torn, they seem fine. My guess is probably the fuel pump/filter.

I slam the gas pedal and the rpms rise but it stays in that gear. It won't change gears, it just revs up, and when it does change gears, it's sluggish. City and highway driving is fine, no problems. Only when I try to haul *** is when this problem occurs.

It sounds like a backfire pop, not metals. Today when I started it turned off on me twice.

Could this be some electrical problem because the truck makes the popping sound when it wants to change gears but it doesn't. Normal driving the transmission throws in the gear in correctly.

Could actually be transmission slipping under load, but fine when driving "normally" actually seen it quite a bit, what year is the truck??

Could the popping sound be the rev limiter?
