Little more done today. Exhaust in, wrote the 4l80e segmented tune. A note here where the truck had been down for a couple weeks so I hooked up a battery charger to it before writing it. Transmission cooler mostly in. Still waiting on the trans line fittings. If I had them I could fire the puppy up.
Exhaust clearance no problem.

Old cooler vs. new.

Just mocking it up to make sure everything fits. Added the bar below it so I could re-mount the air temp sensor.

Getting close. Off to a junk yard tomorrow to pick up a front drive shaft. I'll probably order the rear tomorrow also. For the heck of it I tried the rear shaft just to see if it would fit... NOPE.

you got me interested when you said it is possible to swap in a 2500hd front diff assembly, who else has done this??
im starting my 4l80e swap now collecting parts and needing a front diff anyways, that would be a cool swap, im doing custom steel shafts front and rear at that time so it would be the best time to do it.

The diff probably won't be going anywhere soon. I also have a 6.0L flex plate, spacer and the bolts to the crank I don't need now. Shoot me a PM if your interested. Pick up a set of good grade 8 TC bolts IMO.

Fittings showed up. Got them on and the trans cooler plumbed up. Couple pictures to follow. SURPRISE
Anyway got so excited to start it that I forgot to take any more after I got it plumbed.
Fired it up! WOOOOHOOOO. No unusual noises, no leaks, no codes and its pumping fluid. 12 qts in it so far. Can't run it through the gears till I get a drive shaft hooked up.
