Default DETRIOT TRU TRAC, what else?

I got my locker in the mail today, and ordering the LM603049 and LM 603012 bearings.
What gear fluid do I need?
I know I need a gasket also...
what else?

Jason at Randy's ring and pinion said to use dino 80/90 for the first 500 then you can go 80/90 syn. You will also need a shim kit to get teh carrier preload and back lash correct.

do you need a shim kit and stuff if you're just replacing the stock G80?

nick what'd you pay for the true trac? 400 or so? that's my next mod. since i got this 3000 stall in, i spin the tires too fast for the G80 to lock up properly.

9 times out of 10 you will need an adjustable shim kit, the stock setup uses one thick one on each side. Measure the backlash before you remove anything, and use the shims accordingly to achieve the same backlash with the new carrier.

as for a gasket, silicone gasket maker in a tube works well, the stuff I used is made by "Permatex", available at any auto part store
