Thanks guys, I will probably try to do the same when the converter goes back in.

 

I followed this write-up to do mine and am pretty positive i did everything right but maybe not... it never slipped before i put it in and as soon as i finished this install it started slipping from first to second, what could i have possibly done wrong?

I would look at the seals that go on the apply pistons, that would cause a soft sloppy shift issue. They should almost snap together and look like one piece before sliding the assembly back in.

 

what exactly does a servo do?

 

Sorry I'm an idiot. What tranny does this mod work on? I have a 2006 Escalade with a 6.0 and I think I have a 4l65e.

I works on the 60's 65's 70's. Glad to hear it worked out for ya! I am about to do one on my brothers truck soon as well.

 

My servo cover was stuck and I couldn't take it off. Penetrating oil was no help. I thought I was going to bend the exhaust prying on the servo cover to depress it to get the snap ring.

Guess the servo will stay under my bed for a while longer.

 

What's the time frame to do this if I have access to a lift? And the guy doing it hasn't done it before but he is a GM tech and specializes in tranny problems and rebuilds?

 

20 to 30 min tops
