Default Converting my spare truck to dually

WELL YOU ALL KNOW I BLEW MY 06 2500HD 6.0 ABOUT A MONTH AGO Well since then ive been driven my dads other truck its a 1996 c2500 diesel with a 6.5 turbo auto 4l65 or 4l80i dont know. but im thinking about making it a dually but i dont know what the gear are. ive found a few different sets of axles with a wide arrange of gears. from 354 - 513s i was just curious if you guys new what the proper gears would be for a 6.5 turbo diesel. and if anyone could tell me what the spring width is on these cause i have a friend with a sterling rear i possibly want to run. Thanks

the 3500s run the same width as the 2500 iirc. all you have to do is take a 3500 dually rear end/bed and swap it over to your truck.

Your probably going to be happiest with a 3.55 or at most 3.73’s, as the 6.5 diesel is not going to want to turn any RPM to speak of and most of it’s torque is down low anyway.

Why don't you look in the glove box of the 96 and see what gears it has factory?

GU4 = 3.42
GT4 = 3.73
GT5 = 4.10

Your spring perch width is 47".

I don't think there ever was a F250 dually.

swapping to duals is great for looks and stability, but be aware that GM made the 2500HD frames from 0.157"-thick steel, while 1 tons are made from 0.197", so you'll still be down on actual hauling ability.
