Default Clunk noise from the front end!!

I have a 2006 Z71 Silverado and as the title of this thread says, it clunks in the front end. It sounds to me like it's coming from the left front. It does it when you are going over bumps, especially small ones in, say, parking lots. I can feel it in the steering wheel also when it does it. Do I have a shock going bad or something? Thanks in advance.

Intermediate steering shaft? Mine used to clunk thru the steering too until the dealer replaced it with the new unit. Don't let them try the grease deal because that is only a temporary fix.

Also, what's the best place to buy the intermediate shaft from? It's 67 bucks from gmpartsdepartment.com. Does anyone know the gm part number? Thanks.

That's the bad part. I don't have a warranty. I'm the 2nd owner on this truck and it has 67k miles on it. A lot for an 06, but that's the only reason I got an 06.

If your I-shaft has been replaced, then it could your lower steering gear bearing, it's right at the end of steering shaft before it exits through the firewall, its plastic with metal ball bearings! The orginal is white and the new replacement is green in color and the white one will develope a few thousandths of play after some time, but the new green replacement will fix the issue and this information is per a few GM truck techs I work with not too long ago. If anyone needs pics of this part and a number i can help....

I had a thump sound from my front end, it was worse when pulling into a driveway with the wheel turned or anything with a bump. Left side too. It turned out to be a wheel bearing. These wheel bearings are a known GM problem, I've written a letter to GM with my recepts for the purchases but we'll see what they can do. I can tell you out of the 5GM 1500s we run in our fleet (only purchased to keep our fleet pricing discount) they have ALL had wheel bearing issues.

I checked the I-shaft and it has some play in it when you wiggle it. Does that tell me that it's my problem or does always have play?
