The 4l60e trans can be a good one IF you build it right....I always like to tell people to keep the 1-2 shift a bit on the soft side, but still just a tad firmer then stock. The band that hols 2nd gear is bigger then any other band in a th350,th400, or 727 torqueflite. It can take abuse if its a new band. And with the corvette servo that holds this band you get plenty of holding power..Alot of the 4l60e kill storys I read are due to hard 1-2 shifts and broken outputs ,inputs, or sprags during that shift.

Im looking for the alluminum 2nd accumulator piston....there is a few options on pin size, what about the pinless?

Also i think im going to get a new band, whats a good choice?

I would do the Sonnax billet 4th apply as well (stock pin), hardened separator plate, aluminum accumulator pistons (pinless I have read are better), you already have the 40k cooler, you should be good to go as far as a budget 4l60e goes.

Mine is definitely the exception, but with those modifications (HD2, vette & sonnax servos, hardened plate, 40k cooler, alum accum pistons, a good amount of tq management) it is holding strong behind my blown, cammed 5.3 in a 4wd Tahoe that just dynoed 403/452 before the cam went in.

ive got the vette servo allready, i drilled my stock separator plate to the hd2 specs.

Im looking for the accumulator pistons now.

the hd2 came with a clutch spring kit, if i tear into the trans more to do that i think ill add a new band while im there. but not sure if i want to tackle it.
