i went and looked at a hub from discount auto parts. there is no way the cv axle can hold it together. the inner (splined) part of the hub is one piece. and if the outer cv joint bolted up against the total back side of the hub it wouldn't allow it to turn. its bolts to the inner side of the hub front and rear. in fact some 2wd trucks use the same hub just leaving the hole in the middle and others just don't have the hole and spline made in them. i confirmed this when i called around and people laughed when i ask if the hub would come loose and wheel fall off.
