Awd and 4wd front diff what is different

It uses an open diff in the case. so if the front tires spin all the power goes to them. to get the power to the rear it activates the front brakes. that takes power from the launch. kills 60ft times. i have vids of it causing the front right tire to bounce off the ground.

To add to what 4.8T said; the '01 GMC C3, '02 thru '07-Classic Sierra Denali's, '03 thru '05-1/2 Silverado SS, Yukon Denali's ending in '02 and the Escalade ending in '02 had the NV-149, while the Yukon Denali's and Escalades started using the BorgWarner case in '03.

If I am reading this right I would be good with '02 thru '07-Sierra Denali trucks? I have noticed that some of the earlier models of Denali trucks have traction control. Does this matter ether way?

Yes, your safe picking up a transfer-case from any of the NBS Sierra Denali's as they all had the case your looking for. It's only the '03 and up Yukon Denali's that are a no go.
