I'm going to be changing the transmission filter soon and I was going to install the aluminum 1-2 piston. Is there also another plastic piston above the 1-2 deeper in the case? I've already searched and haven't really came up with much.

 

There is one in the valve body. Here is a photo so you know where it is. It can be installed without removing the valve body along with the 1-2. Vince

no, there's another one " in " the valve body on the side. The picture above in the lower right hand corner.

Be careful when you take the bolts off, it's under " load " from the spring.

 

Is the name of the other piston the forward clutch accumulator piston? Sorry for all the questions.

 

Sorry. Yes the one in the valve body is the forward accumulator. The one that is held in by three bolts that bolts to the case is the 1-2. The one in the case is the 3-4 but is already aluminum and is probably ok. The 2-3 accumulator is apart of the 2nd gear servo. This is one you do not need to address unless you are installing a vet servo. At that point all you have to do is transfer the guts out of your old servo. Now you know where all of them are located.

if the 1-2 accumulator cracks or breaks what will it do? can it cause rev and 1st not to go?

 

usually kills 2nd gear + 4th sometimes

 

oh, well its not that lol. mine even jumps when you start it in park. with a big CLANK sometimes. thinking i welded my 3-4 bands
