Default 80e 4x4 swap transfer case question

i read the sticky at the top about the input shaft swap on the t-case but if i bought a 4l80 with transfer case attached it would be drop in and i wouldn't have to re use my 4l60 transfer case, correct? from my research the 1500 and 2500's both use the np246 t-case. just wondering if theres any wiring difference or if im missing something.

the 2500 could have either the auto trac 246 or like a 261 or maybe 241 i dunno.... butt easy way to tell.. is if its a floor shift transfer case then it def not a 246..... but to answer ur specific question yes they are wired the same way.... there is no diff between the 1500 and 2500 246 t-case besides the diff input shafts..... 27 spline for the 4l60... 32 spline for the 4l80 but im sure you knew that

i have autotrac so its the 246 case. the reason i want to get a used 80e with transfer case is because i want to keep the stock 60e/transfer case untouched so if i want to back to stock it will be there ready. anyone done this?

I swapped in an 80E style 246 along with my 80E. Everything other than the input gear is the same except for the 6 pinion planetary assembly vs 3 or 4 pinion(depending on model year) for the 60E 246.

are the front and rear output shafts the same on the 1500 246 and the 2500 246?

is there really advantage going to the 2500 246 besides I won't have to swap the input shaft?

I believe they are the same, but you will need a 2500 front DS anyway.

the 2500 246 has a 6 pinion planetary set vs 3 or 4 (depends on model year) in the 1500 246.
