540ci w/4L80E converter shudder at lockup

Tig, have you had any engine work done lately? Like new intake or heads?
I found this last night.. It's LONNG, but really informative how he systematically steps through everything. Thought this may help you out:

Last night I found that I had a bit of coolant weeping out under the driver side head. I'm thinking this could def cause the issue.

My engine is completely stock. I have not done anything to it yet.
That is pretty cool, very detailed. If I could only be lucky enough to find a mechanic that willing to do so, I'd be all set hah. After a search, I did find kits very similar to his for fuel injector cleaning. I may give it a try myself.
Hopefully that leak is the culprit. Good luck. Post up results after.
Thanks for the link/video.

That sucks, well I hope your right on the leak causing it. I don't think it is.. But def worth a shot. Good luck man keep us posted. I still feel there is something goin on in that Trans but so tough to pin point. Ideally a gauge should be plumbed in some how to monitor pressure on lock up circuit. I know easier said than done but may be something to look into.
I'm going to add some more grounds to the (aluminum heads), replace the mini battery I have - as I suspect it could be draining causing the HEI distro to not fire all the way.
In other news, the converter is on its way back to PTC. Tthey did mention I may need a triple disc for it to lock up all the way. They should be tearing into the converter end of this week or beginning of next. I'll keep the thread updated with findings.

Keep in mind the TCC valve in the valve body is one of 4 TCC circuit valves, the other 3 valves that can affect it are in the pump, as well as the AFL valve in the valve body having some effect on the converter circuit and more effect on all the transmissions circuits.
A good single disc shouldn't shudder under anything less than 400-500 HP load. Although not recommended we've locked single discs at over 900 RWHP and had them hold.

I have read a few threads where certain companies will provide an additional spring to put in converter limiter valve (in the pump) to increase the lockup pressure on the TCC.
Is this something you would recommend doing, and if yes is the spring readily available anywhere?
Also, is it common that the 3 valves in the pump wear out like the VB TCC circuit?
