Valve body, stock valve / broke spring. Highly possible the TQ converter as well depending on how long its been going on.

I'd replace the lockup solenoid and check the valve and bore for a burr or for it to be dragging somewhere or hanging up. Inspect all the Orings and sealing surfaces associated with that circuit as well.

Thanks guys.

This is the TCC valve/sleeve for the 4L80E I was referring too: Oversized TCC Regulator Valve Kit - 34994-18K - Sonnax

...but the freggin install tool to install it is like $300. I can't believe there isn't anyone on ebay w/this tool cashing in on this. Apparently its not very common, or only reveals itself with high stall converters, as hardly any shops know about this fix.

I ended up ordering this TCC fix as it doesn't require a special tool to install: TCC Regulator Valve Kit - 34994-01K - Sonnax

I also was able to find a reman 4L80E valve body w/TransGo AFL fix + all new solenoids on ebay. I ordered that up with the Transgo HD2 kit.

I decided not to take the truck back to that shop as they did absolutely ZERO diagnostics on it. lol Throwing parts at it w/no diagnostics doesn't exactly spell competent IMO.

If all this crap doesn't fix it, the converter is going back! I'll update with the results after everything installed...

It seems like most shops aren't capable of really diagnosing any kind of problem. This seems to be common place know a days. That's pretty much the same sh*t that happened to me. Throw parts and cash at me and I'll fix it, its BS.

Sounds like we need to open a transmission shop! haha

Did you ever end up fixing your TCC shudder issue? I'm pretty sure I cam across your thread and you had the same thing going on also.

Sounds like a plan man, hah.

I have not yet resolved my issue. My hours just changed today so I'll have more time, its been about a month and a half since I've done anything.
I did buy a new yoke and u-joint last week and plan on installing either this weekend or next.

I am very curious to see what happens with the new VB and internals.
Does the weather effect how much yours shudders?
I ask because mine does not shudder as much when its warm out. In fact sometimes you don't even notice it at all. Its weird.
I think I'm also going to look for a new VB and internals.
I'm looking forward to your updates.
Good luck man

Nah, the weather does not affect it. Have you tried adding a bottle of lubeguard by chance? I think its like $10. If you think its the TCC may as well give it a shot, as its cheap. I've read a lot of good things about it.

The ebay seller's name I got the VB from (w/AFL Vavle fixes + all new solenoids) is "shiftritetransmissions"... Figured you'd want that info just in case the changes I make actually work. :-D

I should have updates before the end of the weekend, depending on how much a PITA the shift kit is to install. The directions seem fairly straight forward.

I have not, actually never heard f it before. Did you try it? Is it something you leave in or should the fluids be changed after a few miles?

I forgot and you beat me to it. Thank You.

YouTube is your friend, check out some of the vids on there about shift kit installation. Good luck and am looking forward to your results.

Alright, so I got the reman VB in along w/HD2 Shift kit today. The good news is that I didn't F-up the shift kit install and it shifts through all forward and reverse gears.

The bad news is it does the same BS shudder w/the converter!

That leaves either bad converter clutches, or I have an undetected misfire. Since the PCM has thrown a slip error before, it has to be the converter.

I'm calling PTC Monday to see what they want to do about this. The guy I talked to last time said he only recalls ONE other person having this issue. I got the indication that they didn't want to take a look at it as they recommended I change out the cam. I don't think they have too many customers running 4L80E's though. We'll see what happens...
