Actually, I never drove it in Auto 4X4 after the gear swap. Just 4 high. It only does it when turning hard but even on dirt. It was dry dirt, but I was still surprised about how bound up it felt.

 

It is going to bind up on hard terrain. It sounds normal.

 

Yea its normal for it to bind like that in 4wd. The lower gears probably just make it more noticeable. Just like when it seems to bind more in 4 low.

 

how do like the gears? ive got 373s cant decide between 430s or 456s thoughts?

 

I havent dealt w/ the front so far, but definately in the rear! Its a 4-6oz bottle u can get from GM. I thot mine was in the front too and it turned out the locker was gripping in reverse and when turning @ slow speeds. Does it only when hot? R/

 

I have stock tires on 16's and I love the new gear ratio! My tires are less than 30" so they're pretty small. If your tires are 32" or bigger then definitely go with the 4.56's. Going from 3.42's to 4.30's I was afraid it would be too steep but now its much nicer to drive. It just feels lighter.

Sounds normal to me to. If you have traction on all 4 corners and in 4wd turning it should and will bind.

 

Are you talking about the G80 or an aftermarket LSD? The G80 doesn't take an additive either, just synthetic 75w-90 Most aftermarket LSD's and older factory LSD's with clutches need the additive...(used to be known as "whale sperm" btw)

 

Yeh, I think you mentioned earlier you "used to drive around in auto 4wd all the time" but this time your are testing it in 4wd. Auto won't bind as much, but will. But 4wd definitely binds. Plus, the obvious IMO, your huge jump in gear ratio is going to magnify everything. Smaller rotations makes for quicker reactions on the binding. (just made that last one up, but sounds like it makes sense to me)

Yeh the G80 doesn't need the additive, but definitely put the synthetic 75/90 in it. The whale sperm won't hurt it if you do decide to use it.

I do gas pedal turns all the time (engaging my LSD ) and after about a year if I do a gear oil and additive change in the rear I can tell the difference. Less binding in the rear clutches.
