Here are a few pictures of what I was talking about:
First, here is the actuator filter this thread is about: Amazing how much I had to file it...

Here it is next to the new one I got in the kit:

Here is the new kit filter down in the bore...Notice the clearance from the 'rim' of the filter to the roll pin hole:

This shows the amount of filter rim that protrudes into the path of the roll pin:

So tell me, is that orange-ish color one I filed the hell out of going to be okay like it is, or what? Like I said, the base of that thing where the o-ring goes on is soo thin, i can hold it up and see light through it, so it wouldnt be worth my time to file that little bit off...You can take probably a max of 4-thousandths off of it.
That brings me to my next idea. My kit came with a filter to replace that little one that is countersunk in the valvebody on the one side. I of course replaced it. The old one looks very healthy so I am wondering If I can rig the two together somehow and make one sturdy deal that is the right length? Just brainstorming. I hate to jerry rig, but something may have to be done about that 'no-top' screen. Anyways here is that black one I removed:

EDIT: I actually think my setup will be okay even with that top rim gone. As you can see in the pictures, i maintained a flat surface, so it butts up against the end plug nicely. Are ya'll with me thinking it will be okay? Im not sure its a big deal since there is a ton of pressure on it when I drive that roll pin through there. Also, what the heck is that orange spring in there for? The whole assembly isn't going anywhere. It's pointless! lol

Did that ^^^
It went down and did the 'pop' when it seats. You can look in the side of the VB down where the manual valve is and you can see the end of that plug is flush. Like I said, I dont know what the deal was. It looks like it may seal okay up near the roll pin plug.
