Default 4L60E Remedy...for now

I'm getting a TransGo performance shift kit with the aluminum accumulator pistons, hardened pins, oem pins, Corvette servo, seals, etc... and I know that it will increase the shift firmness and so on, but will it harm the transmission at all without getting a tune? Cause I have heard some horror stories of people putting shift kits in and servos then their transmissions takes a dump on them. Mines a DD and I don't have the money for a new trans so I just wanna make sure before I buy.

If you install it right you will improve the trans, but I'd recomend having the transmission calibration changed to make it all work right.

If you don't delete the torque management the truck won't seem much differnet. GM cuts timing and I think also fuel to bring down the power levels of the engine during shifts. I think my stock program cut back 40% at torque levels of 250 fps.

but would just installing the kit and servo do harm to the transmission in the long run or cause premature failure?

As long as you don't get overly aggressive with the firmness of your shifts, those parts should actually help reduce heat in the transmission which will help your transmission. If you don't already have a transmission cooler, I'd recommend one of those along with the shift kit and servos. Also when you use the kit to firm up your shifts, don't mess with the line pressure in your tune; my understanding is you can use one or the other to accomplish firmer shifts but not both.

if you get it tuned put line pressures back to stock...also dont use any shims in the 2nd accumulator...trust me it will shift way to hard

Thanks Guys! I just wanted to make sure it wasn't going to do any damage running the shift kit w/ vette servos without tuning it.
