Question 2001 4L60e fitment / 96 GMC 1500

I found this on Craig's List:

http://jacksonville.craigslist.org/pts/5183495734.html

Chevy 4L60E transmission for sale. This transmission was removed from a 2001 S-10. This trans was rebuilt by a professional shop in Jacksonville. Over $1600.00 spent. Included is a GM gasket kit and 2800 PTC stall converter. RPO code of transmission is :M30. Asking $475.00 OBO.

My question is, will a 2001 4l60e, out of a S10, fit a 96 GMC 1500, with no major swap issues (tail housing, harness connector, etc). Also, is a 2800 stall goo for towing?

It should fit so long as it is a 4.3 s10. Stall would depend on gears in your truck, but higher stall wouldnt hurt towing...

They built it and mated it to a LS6 so I am guessing it will fit then, right? As for the gears in the truck, they are factory as far as I know, but not sure what.

if it was mated to an ls6 you may need a different converter I do believe the 5.0/5.7 had different hub or bolt pattern, but I know ls tc are different

Major differemce is top bellhousing bolt is absent on the 96 both should have removable bellhousings though

96 was first year of obd2 so should be same, crawl under your truck and see if you have the square yellowish plug on the driver side or the grey round connector on passenger side with the black box with 2 connectors on the shifter shaft for neutral safety switch on driver side.... If you have the vortec 305/350 with the square intake box ontop of the trottle body it will work!!!
