Default 4L60e died today

My 4L60e died on me today as I was going to class. Luckily I was only 7 or 8 blocks away and was able to "idle" the truck home and take my gf's truck to class. Needless to say I am in the market for a new tranny. Any suggestions? Right now I am leaning toward a JAG Performance built 4L60e or 4L65e.

Both good but I would consider either the 4L65e or the 4L80e. Heard the 4l80e is really good realiable tranny and can handle some serious power with out any major upgrades.

Yeah, I have heard good things about Jag. I guess I'm gonna see the prices and go from there. I don't have FI so a 60e should be plenty but I would like to have a 65e just in case I go crazy down the line and get FI or something. I guess I will just have to see the kind of $$ difference in the two, he said a built 60e would be about $2250. BTW, sorry to hear about your truck too grippy, I was in the same boat not too long ago. I didn't have the G80 but just about everything under the diff cover was blown away.

Yeah, I agree, always nice to learn new things . I am going to school for auto tech, so at least I can get the truck up on a lift and have a few guys help me do the swap, shouldn't be too bad. Hopefully I can get the tranny ordered today or tomorrow and get the truck back on the road again soon. On another positive note, my gf drives a Silverado too, so at least I'm still in a bowtie .

Well thats good that you are getting a nicely built transmission. my 60e blew the day after i put my 6.0 in (last weekend). i had my 60E built locally and hopefully it will hold up. I got to drive around my gf's lifted tahoe while my truck was gone, its nice to have another chevy to drive.

Yeah, definately nice to have another Chevy. Actually I will be in her ride until friday, then I will be in my dad's Silverado until mine is driveable again, so its not TOO bad. After driving a stock Silverado I will get a new appreciation for my truck when I get it back. Hope the 6.0 is goin good for you man, I would love to drop one in my ride. Hopefully the new tranny will hold up for you.

Go for the 4l80e and save yourself the trouble.
