Default 03 2wd 4l60e swap to 06 2wd 4l65e

Hey guys,

I'm new to the site.

I have a 03 silverado ext cab with a 4l60e tranny that's shifting hard from 1-2 and slipping 2-3. I'v already did the filter and fluid and the solenoids and still having the same issues.

I'v picked up a 06 escalade ext 2wd 4l65e tranny that I'm planning on swapping this weekend.

My question is will this be a direct swap?

What issues/complications could I run into with this swap?

Here is the ID on the new tranny 06CZ

Direct swap...pretty much the same transmission other than the 65e having 5 pinion planetaries. I thought only the SS silverado came with the 65e though.

Yes the SS did come with the 4l65e

my truck was built like an SS but its doesnt have the 6.0, awd or leather. Just has a ll the looks of an SS

with my truck having a tow package will that be effected going to the 4l65e tranny?

Also I was told that I would have to swap the speed sensor from my 4l60e and put it in my 4l65e is this correct?

You'll be fine just swap it and yeah swap speed sensor since you know it's still good. After I broke my output shaft on my 60e 16 months ago I had it rebuilt to a 65e and then I lost 2-4 last month. I bought a used unopened 60e from a buddy with 86k miles for $200 and threw it in with a new 2800 trailblazer stall converter.

Thanks also cammed00

Once I get the swap done I'm going to put some miles on the tranny and see how well it works. I'v been told to put the vette servo kit in it.

Does this kit make it shift smoother? faster?

Thanks for the info, got her swapped out over the weekend!

I did have to switch my shift placement unit off of my old tranny. The one off the 06 Caddy was a dual plug in where mine was a single. As for my speed sensor, I never changed it. I couldn't figure how to get it out without breaking it.

That was a fun job lol hope to never have to do it again

01ssreda4 - I'm not sure what years are interchangeable.
