FASTEST6.0 99+ RCSB NA stockshort block record?
#1
could a mod add 6.0 in the title lol
me and im going after it
after the disastrous 410 issue im going back to the stockshort block
wow a year and a month later, what can i say, the stockshort block is going back in for round II
ill push her to NO end, i made the decission friday, the 410 was a disaster breaking 2 of comps new 926 springs, which were highly reccomended by COMP, breaking a valve after 6 days of running and at 6k rpms on the street, hell breaks loose
distroyed one head and killed a piston BENT a high dollar rod ( lunati pro series billet ) #8 cylinder bore will be sleeved. BUT i might be going a different route after this
if im gonna have to buy 8 more pistons ( weight was calculated through the build ) im going bigger.
all i can say the build was masterful everything was within spec's, but who to blame? the tune was still below average, no where near aggressive only at a mere 30* of timing, AFR well with in range at 11.8-12.2 on the big end. no lean spikes, we were finalizing the tune for the following weekend to get her ready for a 100 shot off the plate to follow with a 150 then 200 then rolling in the direct port. the build consisted of #470 open pressure on the springs #170 closed, it was a huge decission to go with comp but now i wish i wouldnt have, but they were the ideal spring
the cam was a mere 251/263/621/621/114+3 very well designed and thought out, she would have made the 600 mark we were looking at.. 20" tires had no life from a 65 roll as they carried themselves up in smoke! gustimated horsepower was 590ish but with hptuners and calculations we were seeing more like 638
heres what the after math looks like :

it truly sux and i feel the other guys pain after having a motor built just to FAIL !!!
but it happens, this motor was built with high expectations going down the 1320, she managed a 11.19 off the trailer all motor, though we knew we had 10s in her easy, but we were still conservative on the tune. plus it was a fucked up day.. i had NO doubt this motor was gonna handle 400 shot without issues specially the way we were gonna bring it in, the cage was going in after a few weekends of testing and lining out the tune. but now with a huge step backwords im regrouping and gonna decide on my next move, i dont look for any compensation from comp though they have been in touch with me and did determine the springs failed. this disaster was a HUGE disapointment but whats one suppose to do? it happens i guess!!
ANYWAY THIS IS MY DELIMA AND I'LL SOLVE THE ISSUES TO BETTER THE NEXT BUILD!!
new heads are the LSA heads, the wings will be ported out to an extent, this build wasnt a over aggressively build it was above average foresure!! but as of now i'll play with the stock short block and just have sme fun running the **** out of it !!

Sorry to hear about your troubles... a buddy of mine had a comp lifter fail in his 600+ crank horsepower 427 sbc. Comp acknowledged their lifter was the culprit and wouldn't do anything to help. This was in a street only ecsb obs truck that had never seen the track in the short 1000 miles it lived... I've seen enough to stay away from comp... good luck with your shortblock record!

Whatever that record is (I think you still have it at 11.39) we will get her there and then some. I still think we would have seen low low 11's out of it as it was. I'll be here as usual David. I like the new direction personally.
