Looking to gain Flex Fuel capability in 2001 Tahoe...
#1
My vehicle is a 2001 Tahoe with the LM7. It came as a non-flex fuel vehicle. I would like to gain flex fuel capability. Apparently, my vehicle came from the factory with the 0411 PCM. Can I wire up the ethanol content sensor & load the operating system in my PCM or should I get a PCM from a similar vehicle (2002 2wd L59 Suburban w/ DBW)? Another thing...Do I HAVE to use the expensive sensor that the 2002 L59 came with (12570260) or can I use one of the cheaper ones (13577429, 13577394, 13577379)?

I am not an expert on the subject, but I can share some nickel knowledge for you and others
The new gen sensors can be used, the calibrations are the same as the pricey sensors. The plumbing will have to change for those of us with flex fuel originally, not a plug and play deal. Some wiring changes (new connector), plumbing for the return line and the ECU wont know the difference.
As for the OS, I would also suggest an 02 Tahoe Flex Fuel OS, assuming you dont have flex tables in your 01. I dont think you need a PCM

Harness connector: 13352241
Pin 56 on the blue connector
Load the 02 OS into the 01 PCM and you should be good to go.

Been looking into this myself, very helpful info. Just will have to keep searching to see where people usually place the sensor, how they spliced it in. And how that harness comes into play.

My truck is a return system. What about the fuel pump? Is my Walbro 255lph enough? Truck, mods, and dyno #s are in my signature. Hoping I have enough injector too.
