Oh yeah, ever hear of Sean Hyland? why don't you send him an e-mail about mod motors making no power with out boost.

it's not that they "can't" make power. i've personally seen them make crap tons of power. it's just that their power in STOCK form is not very impressive due to the smaller displacement.

Nothing to do with the displacement....it's the crappy factory induction system and heads. The 3V 5.4's won't have a problem in the heads as they flow very well compared to the 2V heads. The factory intake though is still junk and there isn't much that can be done save spending $$$ on a custom sheetmetal intake.

Nothing is available for the 3v motors yet because they are still fairly new. The after market just hasn't caught on yet. If you are talking about the 2v and 4v motors on the other hand, you could swap some 2v heads for ported 4vs, and maybe even a99 cobra or gt manifold and start making crazy power with the right tune. Oh yeah, this discussion was never about stock condition motors. Its about building a mod motor. Fords are lacking some displacement, but in the right hands, you could match a 5.4 and 5.3 or a 4.6 and 4.8 and have a super close match (IN THE RIGHT PEOPLES HANDS). Now if ford built a pushrod or mod motor the size of chevys 6.0L, that would be an interesting match.

Is there a stroker kit available? Yes, either a 5.7L or a 6.0L kit. Does the 5.4 really need more stroke? No...at a 4.165" that's plenty.

I know there is stuff out for the 3v. CHP and DSS, and a few other companys make stroker kits, but I was referring to the heads and induction. Guess I should specify next time, my bad.

Well, let's see. JDM has a S/C kit that's full bolt on, as does Roush. JMS offers head work, 3 different stages in fact. Fox Lake also offers heads. Comp Cams is gettin ready to release the cams they've come up with. There's plenty of things you can do to these motors. Maybe not as much as the 2 or 4V's, but give them some time with it, they'll be pushing some serious power with these motors.

Theres no doubt some will build a radical 3v sooner or later. I guess I need to drop the mod motor conversations and stick to the old carbeurated big and small blocks I know best. Hopefully attending Nashville Auto Diesel college this fall and will learn a lot more about this mod motor jargin.
