Simply because you're trying to prove a point with a car. I know it's a truck motor in a car. We have car motor's in our trucks, lol.

i dont hate fords, nor am i in the "you need boost to keep up" club.
I don't hate Chevy's either. In fact, I was and still am a GM guy, it's just when it came time to buy a replacement for my last ride, the General just didn't have anything that interested me.

a big advantage of OHC engines is the elemination of lots of moving parts, therefore allowing much higher RPMS. what's the point of utilizing this setup if you dont design the rest of the engine to turn fast?? i'm not talking ****.
i'm just curious.
The 4.6's are a square motor, same bore, same stroke. You put a 4v setup on there and they scream

The 5.4's, however, are just an overstroked 4.6. They're 3.55 X 4.16 (bore/stroke) vs. 3.55 X 3.54 for the 4.6. We simply cannot turn the same RPM's. Even with the 4v heads, they just don't turn enough RPM to utilize them. You guys with the LSx series motors can spin to what, 6500 or so? Our shift points are set from the factory at ~5200.

Our motors (5.4s) are great for tq, but they're suckin in the hp dept, stock anyway.

Does Ford make versions of these engines for boats? Chevy guys can't claim we didn't go through some very bad times with proprietary intake manifold and injection design to get to where we are today. Even the heads - just barely over a decade ago your mower flowed better than an OEM GM SBC head. If Ford has a Marine division there might be some goodies for the 3-valve heads that will swap over. I don't know much about Ford powertrain.

I have a Gen-1E Vortec that USED TO HAVE proprietary crap injection in the worst flowing intake manifold you could imagine. Now I run a genuine GM boat manifold with real injectors and everything's just swell. It even looks like it came that way.

Wow! I am so sick of the same ignorant crap over and over again. My best friend brives a BONE STOCK 01 rcsb f-150 with a 4.2 v6 and a 5-speed and he pulls 16.8s all day long, run after run, drag race after drag race. Any more it's all about who ya know or what you show. Both chevy and ford both make great engines and great TRUCKS (Thats what we are supposed to be talking about here), If you are just curious about fords you would be asking questions about them, not making completely rediculous comments about them. So any easy solution to all of this would be to stop talkin crap and ask or stay in the chevy forums. This is a FORD forum your not going to win if you tried your hardest the same goes for ford guys talking in a gm or mopar forum. Can we please move along to the next sucject please?

ok this is about enough. we started this with the intention to find some more power in a ford and it has gone far enough. all the chevy people that are just going to antagonize the ford guys stay in your own forum. start another one and keep it clean.
