Hey guys. Totally new to performance trucks!
I have had lots of project cars over the years but have never gone the forced induction route. I’m looking for a decent but cheaper turbo kit for the Bourbon! I like doing projects that aren’t super common. Having never gone this route I’d like suggestions. Engine is 100% stock. I have just done a 2/3 drop, wheels and tires and a grille and headlights and a cat back exhaust. i don’t want to do internals yet. I am buying a 6L with a 4L80 soon and will build that. However I wanna have fun with the 5.3 for now looking for 500-600hp nothing nuts

KB or Trick would be your best bet on a turbo kit.
Your stock 4l60E is going to be very stressed with 500+ hp and that heavy truck. Not a bad thing, but you may want to have the 4l80 on standby before you start beating on her.

Good luck with the project.
KB isnt around anymore unfortunately. And i very rarely see a used KB Kit.
Ive had good luck with Huron Speed kits.
I tell my customers to go ahead and sell the 4L60 since its still in working order. When you break it, its not worth much at all.
Depending on the year of the suburban you wouldn't want to go much above 500hp anyway because you "could" be in the danger zone of the stock connecting rods.

is that just a 5.3 thing or because of the weight?
often times you'll see "550hp" quoted as the limit, with no regard to vehicle weight or use
Truthfully, it's a torque limit: torque breaks rods. But it's easiest to quote HP because most ppl understand it
I have a *sometimes* Procharged Tahoe that weighs in at 5920 full of fuel. 02, so Gen3 rods. I even got 220k out of the 4L60! But for all intents and purposes I drove it like it was always about to break, so part of my success story is just being smart. The truck dyno'd 477 before some changes and then according to my tuner and his guesstimate based on fuel loading; was in the 500whp range. Went ~15k on that until the blower started leaking and back to NA she went
There aren't many of us SUV guys left here. There's me, Dan (gay *** 2wd) and you
there are a lot of weak points to address. Fuel system, trans and rear diff. GM makes parts for other models that fix almost all the above, so couple trips to the junkyard and you'll have a stout truck
I'm all about saving money but I also don't like headaches, Trick would be my choice he's been doing it for awhile and has killer customer service.
R.I.P. KB
Thanks it was a one owner before me with 155km on it (Canada) and yes I was a service manager with Dodge for 10 years so I have hook ups with the dealer. 2021 Ram 1500 wheels. Fit perfect
