This is what happened when my 4.8 grenaded
What to do? Media blast the housing and carefully clean the blades and run it and see if it wobbles or runs good? If I send it off, should I use Precision to repair or someone else?

Call Work turbo. They are a local place here. Their work is far more detailed than precision by far. Reed, the owner really knows his stuff. Call and tell them Blake Fondren sent you! They work on every turbo from bobcats to promods!

The wheel seems tight as any turbo I have felt and the blades are not bent. I looked at the flow path and the turbo feed is right after the oil filter in the path of oil flow. Thinking about flushing it best I can and running it. Thoughts on that???

You have to remember a turbo is extremely precise in its balance. also it looks to be rubbing. at the rpms that runs you could make some serious damage. as far as the tight you are talking about, how did you check it? is it actually rubbing right now?

I understand its very delicate and precise. It is not rubbing. I am more concerned about oil comtamination and hurting my fresh engine. I think I'll take it apart and inspect it. Basic rebuild is 400. looking down the barrel of a lot of those these days. need to DIY where possible. As for the tolerance on the shaft , no dial indicator check , just fingertip wiggle. The precision still has way less movement that any other turbo I have felt. Thanks for discussing Blake .

If there is anything in the oil on the turbo then it has killed the thrust bearing inside. it doesnt take much and they get roasted pretty badly. i understand saving money, but this is a place i think may bite you in the ***. you could get away with it, but i dont think you will help much flushing it. it could be making its own metal internally.
