Default turbo guys- exhaust houseing

hey guys, im in the midst of building a home made rear mount turbo kit. i have a PT70 turbo, i have a 3 bolt .63 and a 3 bolt .82 housing

what have you guys been using. this turbo came off my grand national last year when i upgraded to ball bearing. the .82 gave me a little more MPH but with the convertor i was using i suffered down low, i moved to the .63 housing and the spool came alot faster

on the sts site when you go click the intercooler option it says *larger turbine housing for towing*

i use the truck kind of all purpose, itll make the occasional trip down the strip, drive it to work, tow a 1800# trailer with a 3200# car on it.

just wondering what exhaust houseing i should go with, most of the info is in my signature. i had a smaller intercooler to use behind my SS bumper but i went with the larger front mount that goes infront of the AC condensor

thanks!

I'm ran a .68 on my 4.8 with the STS and a T60 turbo. Helped a bit in spooling, I towed plenty with it and never had any problems. I liked it better then the .81 it came with.

Now with the front mount, I have the same turbo and it spools almost instant. I like it

thanks man, i was thinking that the .63 would help with spooling alot- considering i dont want to run a large stall convertor.

my grand national was a dog off the line with that .82- but once the boost hit you did feel a bit of difference

Since your running the 4.8, .63 is about as big as I'd go. You'll have plenty of power with that turbo on those cubes anyway.

the 4.8 is kind of a place holder for now. im going to do the turbo set up, make sure its all working properly then swap out for a LS2 that i have from a wrecked GTO

Ah. The good news is that exhaust housings are cheap so you can have it run good with the 4.8, then swap the motor, make see how you like the .63 and if you don't like it anymore, upsize.

IMO you'll want a .96 with the LS2. That's what I ran when I had a 70 on my 408. It spooled really well and made pretty good power. It was a little small (the turbo) for what I was trying to do and resulted in a dyno engine fire, but put me in the 650-700 awhp range on pump gas and a mustang dyno (fire happened on the dyno numbers in my sig and I lifted at 5300rpm). It was also august in FL -- as I recall it was 98* and 100% humidity that day.

That would be a very strong front mount combo imo -- possibly too big for the rear kit without a few more cubes (there is a guy in Tx running an 88 rear mount with good success from what a little bird keeps telling me )

oh well we will see what happens. ill start with the 70 and see how it works out. the 88 was fun on the GN but it was too much for a stock bottom end on the 3.8

ill roll with the 70 with the .63 for now with the 4.8
