Default Tsp 220 cam

Hey guys. I'm purchasing the last of the parts for my turbo setup. I currently have my turbo, wg, bov and all necessary plumbing, gauges and most of my fuel system, minus lines and possible cell. Im stuck on cam choice however. I've done a lot of searching around the forum and I'm sure most of you are going to recommend an ls6 cam or maybe an isky 215. But along with making good power, I'd like to have a little chop at idle. So do y'all think I could get away with a Texas speed 220/220. I'm thinking if I go with the 114LSA I would be okay, but the 116lsa would obviously be a more boost friendly choice. I have found some good videos and sound clips of the 114lsa 220. It has a nice chop to it, but I am wondering if any of you have the 116lsa? Maybe a sound clip? Think it will still have a little lope? Thanks in advance!

My friend has a 5.3 with 76mm turbo and he is still running the TSP 220 112 LSA cam in there running 10psi! Everone "thinks" they need 114+ LSA for FI but thats not the case. Turbos love overlap an make power with cams that have overlap (been proven serveral times). Search over on LS1tech and there is a bunch of info on cams and turbos. Go for it and run the TSP 220 cam on either LSA you like. Good luck with your set up.

The amount of overlap is what causes your motor to idle rough not LSA. More overlap = more chop. I'm going to be pulling my tsp 220 cam out as soon as I get the money for a different one.

Lsa affects overlap. More lsa, less overlap. Vice versa..

I know, but that's just one of many variables that determines overlap.

Overlap = Intake duration + Exhaust duration; divided by 4; - LSA; times 2

IMO buy a cam designed for boost that has a good amount of overlap. I'm guessing I will gain around 20hp when switching from the tsp to a boost cam.

Im running a tr220 on a 112 cam, and at 9psi made 456whp on a dyno jet through a 3200 stall and 22" wheels

Thanks for the input. Is anyone else making good numbers with this cam? My goal is 650rwhp. I have the fuel system to support this goal, 95lb delphi's Bosch 044 inline. Motor is 370 with MP T76 Q-trim. I'm just big on a nice aggressive idle, and I know most boost cams don't have a lot of overlap...

Edit:
I just did a quick search and found these cams that people had ran in their 370's (only could find supercharged)
GT2-2 207/220 571/578
216/222 547/586 114 +3 cam.

You should just spend $30 (I think) and have Pat G spec you out a cam. Just tell him your setup and that you want it to chop at idle and be done with it. The tsp 220 will put up good numbers but there is more power to be had for an extra $30. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the replies. I talked with Pat G and I think I will be going with a custom cam. This guy has great customer service.. I emailed him and he wrote me back within a couple minutes! He was very helpful and response time to all my emails were unbelievably fast!
