Mine is similar to what you are describing. It is a real PITA to change out.

So far so good, I have not experienced any ill effects with a tight belt.

Thats perfect youll be surprised how much that belt will stretch with time. I had to use a screw driver to wedge mine on, when I removed blower to change the oil I could just remove the belt off the pulley with my hand.

It's a good thing. Like phasemaster1 said, the belt stretches over time. Also, when you shift during WOT(at redline for instance), the sudden drop of engine RPM while the blower is still wound up causes the belt to absorb some of the shock and it stretches. That hit is one of the reasons why if your pulleys are out of allignment, you can throw your belt at WOT shifts. You having the belt so tight gives the tensioner more travel to absorb the hit.

I bet if you check it again in a month, you'll have lost a 1/4" of tensioner travel. :-) Nothing to worry about. Focus on that A/F ratio in your other post.

I got the tightest belt I can get on my Magnacharger with no ill effects. They stretch over time so don't worry about it!

I tried to run a gatorback that tight this weekend and it didn't agree with my 7000 rpm shift points. It completely destroyed it on the 2-3 shift. I would say if your gonna be hard on your truck put some miles on that belt to let it strech before you go out hammering on it, unless you carry spares.

I can't stand gatorback belts on the procahrger, I ended up using the dayco poly cog belts with much better results

I'm surprised you didn't do a cog set-up.
