Put car in Neutral, rev truck up to just before redline 3 times in quick succession to spool up turbo. When RPM's drop back down shift into Drive and brake stall to 3500 rpm's and when your nuts are in your throat let go of the brake pedal.
At least that's how I did it with my old Ty. Sure miss that little car!
It was meant as a way to get more boost off power braking by spooling the turbo up before the hard launch. Worked really well to tell you the truth. Never got any numbers but my SOTP Dyno could notice the difference.

Here's what I meant:

1) put your foot on the brake and mash it hard
2) rev the motor up to moderately high rpm and let it fall
3) as the RPMs fall, push harder on the brakes and you will feel the pedal move even tighter
4) spool up as necessary

With that I can spool to pretty much whatever psi I want to launch at. Slightly different method than what Spoolin did, but the same intent and result

Yes, but you get better performance just dumped to atmosphere.

Take it easy until you get comfortable. Start by spooling to 3 psi or so. 6psi+ can be a hand full!
