sts install at home
#3
You should be ok doing it at home.
I did mine at work where it was warm and dry but had no lift either.
The kit goes on pretty easy.
Some things to be carefull of are drilling the turbo oil supply hole and tapping it with a 1/8-27 tap. Drill the hole a little smaller than the recomended size or when you go to tap it your fitting will be loose and leak. Its pretty hard to drill a straight hole on size in cast aluminum with a hand drill.
The pipe that used to go to your muffler and now supplying the STS input to the turbo needs to be welded, the stock pipe will not be round and will have bad gaps and leak exhaust. If you get a pipe spreading tool you may be able to get it round enough for it to seal with just a pipe clamp until you get it welded.
Before you start ripping off all your stock parts lay the pipes out on the floor in kind of a mock up stage to get a better idea of how the pipes go on.
Take your passenger side inner fender well cover off and your passenger tire too, it will be much easier putting the pipes together and getting the clamps on.
Do not over tighten the couplers on your MAF, its plastic on one end and can be malformed or evn crack if you get too aggressive with it.
Use the intake maifold for your boost reference instead of the turbo's output housing, make sure you plug the output housing hole if you don't use it.
If I think of anything else I'll post up, I'm still half asleep here.
Good luck on your install.

Did 2 installs in a home garage with absolutely no problems ( 6 hrs on first, 4 on second ).
BTW I also have done 2 de-installs with no problems either. The kit actually comes off quicker ( 2 hours ). Good for those who lease or sell later....
