Default Stock 5.3l looking for a Supercharger.

I have a 5.3l (2006 Silverado 1500 z71) in my truck and am looking to supercharge it. I know it's not the cheapest way to make power but I just want a supercharged truck. I will be getting a cat back exhaust system soon too for better sound and more flow. Any recommendations for superchargers? Want 400+ horse with the supercharger exhaust injectors and maybe a air filter. My transmission is also probably on the way out so recommendations for that? I'm thinking a 4l80e or a 6l80 because it falls on its face as soon as it hits 4th right now so more gears should help that some. If the 6l80e bolts up or I can get an adapter plate is it worth it? I do tow with it sometimes and load the bed with stuff.

Stick with the 4l80 and a good converter.

As for supercharger....it really depends on where you want your power. Off-idle or top? Both types will pull through the red line. They just make their power a little different.

I've had a Whipple and it's fun as hell. If you boost over 10psi then you're going to need meth to keep the charge cool.

PDS blowers (off-idle power)

1. Whipple
2. Magnacharger

Centrifugal blowers (needs rpm to make power)

1. Procharger (intercooled)
2. Torqstorm (not intercooled)

Turbo

1.Trick Turbo
2. KBRacing
3. others

Based on what you mention in your post, you're going to tow. That alone would make me want a Whipple or Magnacharger but you can tow with a Procharger or Torqstorm.

Also, both like a different type of converter. PDS blowers like a tighter converter where centrifugal typically like a looser converter to help build boost.

You also are going to need fuel. Either a larger intank pump, a boost a pump or fully convert to a return system.

We can throw ideas all day long.

Yeah I definitely want torque off the line and I'm not sure if I have a 4l80 or a 4l60 in my truck. Haven't gotten a research. Do you know off the top of your head which it would be?

Yeah I'm swapping a new one in. Should I worry about building a 4l80 or just get one stock?

A stock one is fine. I have a stock built 80e with the only modification internally being the dual-feed mod.
