Sick of my Intercooler saga's yet?
#1
So i did some looking around in the engine bay this weekend while hooking up my wideband and getting my tuning stuff in order. I was thinking of trying another A2A intercooler (non Dmax..LOL) and there is just absolutely no way to get any pipes around the radiator core to the front. This 8.1L radiator is about 45" end to end (Huge) so there is no way around it with 3" pipe. Seems like everything to do with this 8.1 is big....LOL. So I have decided I need to cool this charge down if im going to increase the performace of this thing at all. 220* IATs with a 7lb pulley with ambient temps in the low 80's is just not cutting it. Its making the tuning very difficult as well. So much to KBracing's dismay, i have decided to take the "handsoff" approach and purchase the Whipple A2W intercooler thats designed for my truck.
Here is the part i can expect to get no feedback on what-so-ever...LOL I am looking for anyone who has an 8.1L whipple with the intercooler -AND- who has logged IATs so i can get an idea of what kind of temps i will have after the install. I cant really compare it to the Radix because its a totally different I/C setup. The Whipple I/C is a spearco type I/C that sits a top the intake manifold. Core size on the intercooler is 12" x 8" x 3" with 3" inlets and outlets. Everything else is pretty much the same though, heat Xchanger out front, pump, and reservior all look similar to the radix. Its gotta be better than the 200+ temps i have now, but i dont want to spend $1700 for the whole kit just to lower the temps 20*. Anyone heard anything about the efficiency of these I/C's or know how they might compare with the radix I/C?
My intercooler whoa's will never end it seems...
