So i park my truck behind the house since i had to make a trip to New Orleans for work. I get home and was fixin to go visit my grandparents. I pull my truck around to the front of the house in the driveway and was fixin to leave... but it had rained pretty hard here for awhile so i decided i would check the filter before i left.... well i saw water dripping from the rear of the filter...
Get the creeper and slide under the truck.... the carport has about an inch of water in it so the creeper is the only way..
Here is what i found:
It Rains> Water in Bed> Drains through front passenger side drain hole> Runs straight on to the cross member> Which runs straight down on to the K&N Filter
So i took my filter off and cleaned it, it was literally soaked!!!!
I made a goofy looking Guard for it.. Kindof what STS has for the F-Bodys...
Except theirs looks WAYYYY better than my throw together...
Mine does help keep the IATs down at idle a little better.. it acts as a sheild to keep the Heat from the Exhaust below from getting sucked up into the filter.

Yeah, you have to watch that. Mine used to get rain from the gap between the bed and the cab. It was nothing a little rain shield couldn't cure, but it's just one more thing the kit didn't inlcude. Odly enough, it never picked up water from puddles and the road like everyone thinks it would.

Sorry to hear that. I have not had that problem. do you run a prefilter, if not you should . These are the little things that we have to work through to have a turbo truck. ITS WORTH IT!!!!

Yeah, run the sock in the rain, and don't park in an area that will get standing water (or the deflection from the falling rain will soak the filter as you found out). Also avoid large puddles when possible, and when it isn't possible, avoid hitting the puddles at speed or when with another car (the wake may getcha).

Ive driven it in the rain twice... both times the filter was completly dry when i got home. So now after my Sheild deflector thing... i shouldnt have to worry bout it now...
Funny thing is... i wasnt even driving it
